エジプトの占星学に関連して、デンデラ宮殿の名前が知られています。紀元前3000年ころのエジプトの
第一王朝時代からデンデラという町の名前が歴史にでてきますが、ナイル川の上流約1000キロ・メートル
のテーベという地にある小さい町です。砂漠を横切って紅海に通じる分岐点に存在する交通の要衝ですが
政治の中心になったことはありません。しかし、エジプトがギリシャ軍に占領された紀元前300年以降に
ギリシャ建築の影響を受けて、エジプトの各地で古い神殿を新しく建て直すことが流行するようなり、
デンデラ神殿も建て直されて、その壁画が注目されるようになったのです。
The name of DENDERA is famous with regard to the art of astrology. Since the early Egyptian
kingdom in BC 3000, the name of small town DENDERA has been appeared in the history.
DENDERA is in the Thebes District that is located some six hundred miles up to the Nile river.
As the town DENDERA is located on the bypass point off from the river to the Red Sea across the
a desert, the town has been an important point en route the traffics, however, this town has
never come to the political fame noticed. After the year of occupation of Egypt by the Grecian forces
in around BC 300, as the Egyptians were influenced by adoring the Grecian architectures, the
reconstruction of temples in Egypt has come to fashion. In such instance, the temple of DENDERA
was also reconstructed and its ceiling picture has attracted people.
図はデンデラ神殿の天井壁画の一部です。複雑に入り組んだ図形に「おひつじ」「しし」「さそり」などの図形が見られます。この図形を研究していた一部の人物から、図の天体
配置は今から約二万年前のものだという説が流布されて大騒ぎになりました。その後、詳細に
検討したところ、この図形は古いものではなく、西暦17年の４月17日の天体配置であることが
判明しました。この図形は現在取り外されてフランスのパリにあります。

Illustration above has taken a part of pictures placed in the ceiling of the Temple in Dendera Egypt.
We can see many zodiacs design such as either Aries or Leo or Scorpio are mixed in the picture.
Some one in hasty conclusion has told that this picture indicated the sky in twenty thousand years ago.
People were amazed and excited, however, after the detailed study, the picture in Dendera was the
sky of April 17, 17 AD observed. Therefore, it is no more antiquity but a quite new scene. This picture
is now moved in Louvre, Paris, France exhibited.

すでに指摘したように、エジプトの歴史に大きな問題をなげかけたのは、エジプトのアレキサンドリア図書館の火災です。
西暦288年のキリスト教徒による暴動の前後数回にわたってアレキサンドリア図書館で
火災が発生して、当時、パピルス紙に記載された５万巻以上の図書が失われました。古代ギリシャやメソポタミア
の文明を集めた貴重な資料が失われた損害は非常に大きなものです。当時のアレキサンドリア図書館はエジプトに
おける占星学研究の中心ですが、この暴動により多数の占星学研究者が惨殺されました。
この消失によって、古代の文献はメソポタミアに残された粘土板に刻まれた燃えない記録だけになりました。
As has described in another page, the fire of the library of Alexandria Egypt had left indelible stains on the history of Egyptian astrology.
Fires were recorded in several times in sequence around the Christian riot in 288 AD in Alexandria.
Total losses of burnt books were estimated in the volume of over fifty thousand titles. Almost all ancient
literatures came from either Greek or Mesopotamia was lost in the fire. Many astrologers were killed on
the riot as the library of Alexandria was the center of astrological research in Egypt. Thus we can only
find the ancient literatures in the form clay plates in Mesopotamia that were safe from the fire accidents encountered.
